More About Us
ABOUT TOMOE:
Tomoe was born in Hiroshima, Japan. And spent very active childhood until
she was 17 years old. One of her childhood dreams was to learn English
and see the world. When her sister's family came to America she realized
that her opportunity to make her dream come true was there. Tomoe decided
to leave high school in Japan and moved to Arizona where her sister's
family lived to attend her last two years of high school. She didn't speak
English well and the first year was very tough. But, she tried to make
the best of it and soon learned to speak English. After graduating from
high school, she wanted to expand her English skills and enrolled at Arizona
State University for a marketing degree.
We met in my third year at ASU. My roommate and I were interested in joining
the club and showed up to play some volleyball with Alpha Phi Omega members
where Tomoe was serving as a Service Vice President. She organized volunteer
projects such as fixing up some homes to be made available as low-income
housing, helping out at boy scout events and hosting an Easter egg hunt
for children at an orphanage. Over the next couple of months I got to
see what a wonderful heart Tomoe has and her love of life. We dated for
the next three years and I asked her to be my wife over Thanksgiving break
at Cancun, Mexico. Our wedding was one of the happiest moments of my life
and her friendship and love has made the world a brighter place.
While in Nebraska, Tomoe worked at Lozier, buying materials for shelving.
When we moved to Seattle, she managed to get a really cool job working
at the headquarters for Starbucks. All the coffee she could want AND she
gets paid!
Tomoe does needlepoint, sews and does various crafts every Wednesday night
with some of her friends. She's really good at water painting and has
some nice pictures of New Mexico she painted one summer. She loves hiking
with our dog and is a big baseball fan. She's a fantastic cook and loves
trying out new dishes, though sushi is still her favorite.
She is currently turning our spare bedroom into a nursery. She is very
excited about raising a child and is no longer working, so she can be
a stay-at-home mom.
