More About Us We consider ourselves to be two very lucky people. We share the same values and interests, and we respect and support each other in everything we do. Although we’re from very different backgrounds, and work in different careers, we have a strong bond and mutual understanding. We make a good team, and our relationship is strong and joyful. Children are a big part of our lives. Whether we’re with family or friends, kids are always around and they always find us to play with. We like to travel and explore new places and new cultures. Our love of learning and discovery is our most important shared value. Education will be our top priority for your child (New York City has some of the best schools in the country). We promise we will give your child every opportunity to grow and learn and be successful in life. “Rosario has a magic touch with children. He can pick up a fussy or crying baby and have him laughing in seconds. He’s an excellent teacher and a great companion - he’ll be a super dad.” --Alex Rosario was born in Italy and comes from a large close-knit family; he has an older sister, Titti, and a younger brother, Salvatore, both married with children (Emilia, Alberto, Maria Teresa, and Elena). Salvatore and his wife Clotilde chose Rosario to be their daughter Elena’s godfather. His parents, Giuseppe and Maria Teresa, are retired public school teachers. Rosario moved to America to go to graduate school at MIT. Although he misses Italy, he loves the U.S. and thinks of it as his home. Our nephews and nieces love him to pieces, and when their favorite uncle visits, it’s always a party! Our American nephews immediately took a liking to him, playfully calling him ‘Poopsario.’ Alex
Alex was born and raised in rural Vermont. He and his friends spent most of their time running around the woods and farm fields. His grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins all lived close by, and so he was raised as part of a large family. He has an older brother, Geoff, and an older sister, Kate, both married with children (Jake, Max, Ty, and Lena). His father, Larry, was a teacher, and his mother, Betsy, is a retired nurse. Alex is always happy to be outside, playing in the snow, hiking in the woods, or just laying on the grass under the stars. Our Life Together We believe family life is important - we make sure to eat dinner together every night and we spend most evenings at home playing cards or board games, reading to each other, or just talking. In the summer we often eat picnics in the Park. Rosario is a computer scientist, working in a research lab, a job that gives him a great amount of flexibility and that will allow him to be a very involved father. Rosario loves to teach and he volunteers as a Math tutor for local high school students. Alex works as a museum curator and teaches college classes. He has traveled all over the world and speaks many languages fluently. He will take time off from work to be the stay-at-home dad. Our Family Family is always number one. We are lucky to have two large families who love us and embrace our life together. Some of our relatives live in the New York area, and we are within driving distance from many more. There are already eight cousins (and two more on the way!) waiting, and many more kids in the extended family for your child to play with. Our whole family is very excited at the prospect of us becoming parents. Alex’s Mom, who lives close by, is planning to come stay with us and spend lots of time with your child. Rosario’s family lives in Italy, and, in spite of the geographical distance, we are very close to them and we visit at least once a year. Alex’s family gets together a lot for weekends of football games, snowball fights, and endless tournaments of card and board games. Your baby will definitely grow up knowing the warmth and strength that comes from having a close-knit family. We both loved growing up with our siblings, and we plan to give your child a brother or a sister in a few years. Where we live We live in New York City’s Upper West Side, a quiet residential neighborhood with lots of parks and playgrounds. It’s far away from the busy sections of the city, and has a small town feel to it, which suits us both. We live right next to Central New York has everything we need. It’s a vibrant city with theaters, concert halls, libraries and museums. And its all an hour’s There is so much to do here for children: the Children’s and Natural History Museums (with its amazing collection of dinosaurs) are right next to our home. Our Friends We are blessed with many close friends living in the city or nearby. This large network of friends is an incredible support structure for us an brings great joy into our lives. Many of our friends have young kids (including adopted ones), some friends are currently pregnant, and others are planning to have a child soon. Your child will have a large community of friends of his or her own age to play with - at home, in the park, or at school. With grandmothers, aunts, and our women friends, your child will have many valuable women figures in his or her life.
