About Pimm
I grew up in the southern part of the Netherlands. My father is a salesman and my mother is a fashion designer. I have one brother, Sjors, who is two years younger than me. Due to my mother’s fashion background, we were and are a family that always has had a clear presence, not just visually but also socially. My mother was a stay-at-home mom, and she and my father raised us with the idea to stand up for yourself, be proud of yourself and look out for the people around you. They always supported us, regardless of the directions in which we wanted to go, because to them, the most important thing in life is to follow your heart. We went on a lot of camping trips together and the annual family highlight is the visit to a roller coaster park. The most important thing in our family is communication: our family thrives on the sense that our relationship really gets stronger and better with good, honest communication. Each week, starts and ends with a family gathering at my parents house with a meal, where we keep each other updated with what goes on in our lives. We talk about our feelings as well as the practical, daily aspects of our lives. We stay connected by being real with each other.
About Pimm
by Eduard
I know Pimm to be a very loving and caring and honest person, with a strong personality, who is supportive and discerning at the same time. He has a great sense of humor that often has him roaring with laughter. This sense of humor gives him the ability to put things into perspective and to take things as they come. I believe that these are all traits which will help your child to learn to be self-aware, honest and level-headed. Pimm has several passions: for music, keeping track of the music charts of many different countries; for the weather (he has a lively interest in all things related to the weather); for writing (he is writing a novel and also is writing and drawing a children’s book about adoption, and occasionally he even writes fairytales); for home decorating and other things in which he can express himself. The fact that Pimm is directing his creativeness towards writing a book on adoption to me exemplifies the idea that he will be a very dedicated father that has a keen eye for the future needs of your child. This is even further borne out by the fact that Pimm has a background as a school teacher and is also studying to become a psychologist at the university. Pimm is not only the love of my life, but also someone who dares to take a chance and explore new opportunities. This especially is a trait that he will undoubtedly pass on to your child, making your child a strong individual, who has his/her own views and ideas and will not be afraid to take on new challenges that life has to offer.
About Eduard
I grew up in the northern part of the Netherlands. My father is a dentist and my mother a nurse. I have two brothers, Arnoud, who is two years older than me and Richard who is one year younger than me. We had a warm and safe upbringing, in a town with schools close by and a lot of freedom to play. When we were young we used to go camping together and we went on many skiing trips together. Our parents were encouraging in our education, and supported us fully as we chose our own personal directions; my brothers went on to become a doctor and a dentist and I went in the direction of physics. I have learned through my own upbringing that it is important to nurture your child, but that it is even more important to help your child learn how to weigh various options and develop the skills to make their own choices in life. I hope that Pimm and I will experience the same warm feelings in raising kids as my parents have.
About Eduard by Pimm
I know Eduard as a loving and warm person. He has a very big heart, is thoughtful and cares deeply for my well-being as well as that of others. He is a person who shows his love for me in different ways, such as writing poetry, baking croissants on a Sunday morning, surprising me, very often, with flowers, and always being there for me when I need him. Besides this, Eduard supports me to the fullest to explore my capacities, whether it is my study of psychology, writing books, my skills to design things, or, and that is the most important one, my wish to be a fulltime parent. Furthermore, Eduard is passionate about comics. He likes to snoop around in the comic bookstore, for his collectors comics, on a weekly basis, and, from time to time, he likes to play the piano. Eduard works as a senior scientist at the Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He studied applied physics, and afterwards obtained his PhD in applied physics, both at universities in the Netherlands. During his studies he also lived for four months in California as part of his studies. Eduard’s daily tasks as a researcher are inventing things, looking at situations from different perspectives and trying to build new insights. These abilities, as well as the ones I mentioned above (thoughtful, caring, loving, and supportive), make him, in my opinion a special and dedicated upcoming father. Another important aspect of Eduard is his ability to look at life through the eyes of a child; a child that is constantly surprised by all the things life has to offer (things we, as adults, often do not see anymore). This unique ability is very special in relation to his upcoming fatherhood.
