More About Us
We met each other four years ago, and have been in a loving and stable relationship ever since. At that time, Pimm was working in a bookstore, which I visited regularly; we were immediately intrigued by each other and a series of dinner-, movie-, and coffee-dates followed. During this time, we started surprising each other with gifts and surprise trips. By spending a lot of time together, talking about our passions and ideas, we really got to know each other. We fell in love and after about half a year after we met, we moved in together. In our relationship, it is also the details that count: a movie ticket is not simply given, but is hidden and provided with a treasure map, requiring some ingenious treasure hunting skills. Breakfast is from time to time built around surprise home-baked bread. We give each other flowers in our favorite colors (Pimm’s is purple and orange and Eduard’s is soft-yellow). For us special events, such as a holiday, our anniversary, birthdays, or even some special tv-show events, are a reason to celebrate, to invite friends over and to decorate the house appropriate with the occasion. Friends come over regularly and we like spending quality time with them. Also, with our families we like to go to theme parks, to ride the roller coasters and the wild-water rides. All of these things we would very much like to share with your child, so that she or he can grow up with fond memories, just as we have.
Eduard and I live in the southern part of the Netherlands, in the city called Eindhoven, where we bought a new house a little over a year ago. The house was built in 2004, is located to the north of the center in a zone with a speed limit of 19mph, and is situated close to various schools and shops. The house has modern standards, regarding safety and environmental aspects. We decorated the house in a very outspoken seventies style, with furniture that is particularly child friendly, especially with its bright colours and use of materials. The child friendliness was even particularly noted in a national newspaper article about the decoration of our home. The article also noted the fact that we already started furnishing the nursery. The house has a nice garden with a lawn, where your child can play safely and a large livingroom that covers the entire first floor. In front of the door there is a large playground, surrounded by streets with the 19 mph speed limit, that is only used by occasional destination traffic. There are a number of other playgrounds close by and within a few minutes by car we are in the woods, where we often go walking with the dog, and which we hope to do with your child in the future as well.
A lot of small villages, where our closest friends live, are located in a rural setting around Eindhoven. Pimm’s parents, Joke (pronounced “Yoke”) and Wim, live in such a village, which is called Veldhoven and is a 10 minutes drive away. They are very excited about becoming grandparents and already look forward to babysitting their grandchild, which they demonstrated by the fact that they already bought a baby buggy. They are eager to stroll the baby through the woods to the large playground nearby their home. Many of our friends, such as Lies and Edwin and Marieke and Paul, also live close by and have newborns themselves. They are very dear friends to us and would love to have the children play together, help us with questions we may have in the future, and baby sit from time to time. All people close to us are very enthusiastic about and interested in our upcoming adoption, which they show by their numerous phone calls, questions and gifts.
