More About Us

We have been a couple every since 1999 when we met at an art gallery in Amsterdam. After sharing a very intense year together we decided that we wanted to make an official commitment which displayed our deep devotion and love for each other by getting married. As two artistic souls we wanted our wedding to demonstrate the union of two individuals from different backgrounds and cultures which are united in a strong and sturdy bond. Thus the choice for us was a bridge and since we had worked together on a documentary film in New York City we choose the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a glorious day and still to us a perfect symbol of our adventurous spirits, willingness to unite and just plain old good fun.

We love to travel and have had the opportunity to see much of the world through our various careers, Krisna as a professional dancer and Robert as a cameraman. The last few years we have divided our time between Holland and the US both in work as well as in time spent with our families. Of course wintertime for Robert means as much as possible being in the mountains in Austria snowboarding and giving lessons. Then summers are spent in the Midwest where Krisna’s parents live. They have a place on a lake where the whole family comes to swim and spend time in the outdoors.

As a couple we spend a lot of time together cooking, going to the movies, attending dance and theater performances and watching sports events. We are both extremely active in fitness activities; we belong to a gym and run regularly in the park. Krisna is very dedicated to her yoga and Pilates of which in addition to her teaching schedule requires daily training. Since we are both free-lancers we can arrange our schedules to accommodate our love for free time. It is very important to us that family and time together has utmost priority in our lives now and in the future.

We have a wide variety of friends from varying backgrounds in our neighborhood. The city of Amsterdam is full with parks and since the bicycle is the most popular form of transportation in Holland it has an unusual charm and ease about it. In our building we have a large private garden with a special place just for the children where they can climb and play. We live approximately 30 minutes from Robert’s mom who is a retired nurse and looking forward to being a fulltime grandmother. The rest of the family lives in the western part of Holland and we have a close relationship with all of them, 4 uncles, 2 aunts and loads of cousins!

As a couple completely devoted to each other our decision to adopt a child is a conscious step into our desire and commitment to build a strong and united family full of love and compassion.
