About Us

Now, we'd like to tell you some things about each other. Ron is the husband that I had always dreamed of having-patient, sincere, thoughtful, devoted. He has always made me feel loved, whether it be by whipping up a gourmet dinner, including me in one of his many fishing adventures or by giving the best hugs that would brighten any day. I've always joked that he is the Renaissance man who can cook, clean and decorate but is a talented fisherman, boater and athlete. My girlfriends are amazed by Ron and I always hear "Wow! I wish my husband would do that!" Just when I thought I could not be more impressed with Ron as a person and a husband, I watched him become a Daddy and now I am the one amazed. His absolute devotion to Connor and Eamonn is evident in his actions-baths with Daddy every night that turn into a Daddy-soaking with squeals of laughter emanating from the bathroom, throwing balls on the front lawn with our two Yellow Labs, Tucker and Maddie, adventures in the local aquarium where the boys keep Daddy on the run, vacations on Poppa's boat where Daddy is already teaching the boys the ropes. It's non-stop fun and resembles a three-ring circus.

Kathy is friendly, outgoing, compassionate, and dedicated. Her cheerful disposition and positive attitude are contagious, and she is full of life. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is a good communicator. She loves baseball, photography (especially taking photos of the boys), running and music. I often come home to find Kathy and the boys laughing as they listen to her CDs and try doing an Irish jig or a two-step. Kathy makes the boys feel important, always asking their opinion, asking them questions and helping them tell Daddy about their day. She has an ability to make others feel good about themselves. She manages to keep the household running and the two munchkins out of trouble but spends most of her time 'having fun" with Connor and Eamonn who "make her laugh all day." She is the great organizer, planning field trips to the zoo, to Wiggles concerts, and scheduling art, gym and music classes.

Kathy is a person who absolutely loves what she does each day; she left a successful career to be a full-time Mom and always tells me that she feels that she is doing exactly what is most important to her. I know that she feels that she has never had a job so challenging and yet so rewarding. I see in Kathy a special gift for making her children feel happy, secure and loved.

Our ability to parent has been enhanced by other wonderful gifts. We are blessed with two treasured families who live close by and whom we see often. Kathy is the oldest of five; Ron is the youngest of four. On Kathy's side there are six grandkids with one on the way and on Ron's there are seven. The boys love hanging out with their cousins and grandparents. Our families have always been very enthusiastic about our decision to adopt. Ron's sister adopted her son in 1988 and Kathy's uncle adopted his son in 1991; our families were involved in our adoption process from the beginning and our parents made special trips to meet Angie and her family; they all eagerly look forward to our second adoption.

We spend many days with Kathy's family at their cabin on a lake in the mountains where the cousins take part in the same holiday traditions and activities that Kathy did when she was little-4th of July beach barbecues, lazy days at the beach, trips to the pumpkin farm, the drive-in movie theater, the petting zoo and sleigh riding at the ball filed. Similarly, we are often with Ron's family, spending days on their boat and in Florida in the winter. Connor & Eamonn cannot get enough of "swimming" with Poppa, "driving" Poppa's boat, fishing and playing miniature golf with their big cousins. Ron's family has made it a point to vacation together often and these adventures make for some of the most treasured memories and photos.

Connor and Eamonn, as young as they are, when asked, "who loves you?", run through the whole list of family members. We are so lucky to have each one of them in our lives. The love that brought us together and our shared trust in God have served us well as parents. Moreover, we have tremendous role models in our own parents who have given us the gift of unconditional love that we now feel for our children.
