Dear Expectant Mother

Hello, we are Scott and Melissa from North Carolina. We are waiting for a special person to offer us the gift of parenthood through open adoption. We are excited about parenting and are grateful that you would consider allowing us to welcome you and your baby into our lives. We hope this web site helps you imagine the loving home and family we will provide for your son or daughter. We would like to get to know you and learn all the hopes and dreams you have for your future and that of your child.

We know this is a difficult time in your life. By sharing it with you, we hope to give you confidence that your child will be welcomed with open arms into our loving family. We believe that open adoption is a blessing to all involved and we look forward to sharing our love and life with a precious child.  We'll share our adoption story and the special way we became a family.

About Us
We have been happily married for 9 years. Melissa's mother set us up on a blind date and it worked out perfectly-we are truly right for each other. Having children to love, teach and encourage was always part of our plans. After 7 years of infertility treatments and waiting, we are so excited to adopt the child that we already love in our hearts and imagine in our dreams.

Our Activities
You may wonder what your baby's future might be like with us. We are kids at heart ourselves. We enjoy flying kites, swinging at the park, building sand castles, playing games, riding go carts and bumper boats, and visiting the zoo. Our family is an important part of our lives and we spend a lot of time with them. We have a large extended family and circle of friends. There are lots of babies and young children, so our child will have relatives to play and grow up with. We spend our after work hours exercising at the YMCA-which has lots of programs for kids. We take walks, unwind with TV shows, read, and play with our cat Junior. We look forward to the new activities of parenting- cheering at ball games, dance or piano recitals, PTA meetings, helping with homework and teaching new skills.

Our Home
We live in a small subdivision in a rural area near Raleigh, NC. Our home is comfortable, warm, welcoming. We have big backyard for playing ball, hide-and-seek, hosting a tea party or pitching a tent. Our street is quiet, just right for learning to ride a bike or taking a walk. A bedroom awaits the cries and giggles of the baby that will grow up there. The crib, carseat and stroller sit empty, waiting. The walls miss the colors of crayons and magic markers. The floors long for the pitter-patter of little feet. Our house is full of love, but something is missing- our family is not complete. 

Our careers
We both enjoy our professions- Melissa is in marketing/advertising and Scott is a Computer Engineer. Neither of us travel often. We feel evenings and weekends should be dedicated to family time and activities together. When we become parents the needs of our family will direct decisions regarding work- staying home, working part-time- we'll explore our options when the time comes.

As Parents
We look forward to all the joys and challenges of parenting. Our child will get lots of attention from both of us. We’ll go to church as a family. We'll support our child during a struggle, applaud accomplishments and offer guidance through mistakes. We'll present opportunities to develop her or his own special interests, talents and skills. We'll nurture self-esteem, develop a joy for learning and encourage her or him to pursue the activities that bring personal happiness.

Our Open Adoption Plan
We appreciate the care that you are taking to select a family that will give your baby all that you wish for him or her. We want to establish a relationship that everyone can feel comfortable with, whatever the situation. We are happy to discuss a plan for ongoing contact with you. We will consider an open grandparenting arrangement as well. Adoption is an opportunity to broaden our outlook on life, love and family.

We are working with the Independent Adoption Center, a licensed adoption agency. We are pre-approved to adopt and have a home study on file.
