Waiting Parent Information - Statistics on Site Rankings

Adoptive Parents:
Now that you have told your Story, you need someone to read it. This is why Search Engine placement becomes so important. If you are Amazon.com or Expedia.com, you can spend millions on promoting your web address. The rest of us must rely either on purchasing banners (Usually a minimum buy of $5000) or being found in the search engines.

Search engine placement is a tricky business. You may not get listed at all. You may show up as record 200 (or 2000). You may only show up if a precise word or phrase has been searched for (which narrowly limits who may find you). Every search engine and index evaluates content differently and will rank pages differently.

While it has certainly become popular for anyone who feels like it to put up a personal site, it is rare for these sites to place well in the search engines for a large cross-section of search-phrases. There is too much specific knowledge required and it literally takes hundreds of hours applying the correct methods to achieve the best results.

I have recently decided to apply my skills at search engine placement to this site (Starting about March 1st, 2001). I purchased additional domains and put some old domain names that I already owned to work. I have tailored content with search engine placement in mind and I have begun the registration process.

This site already places extremely well for a search on "open adoption". I expect it to start placing well for a number of other related phrases shortly.
